Leaving Auvillar it was clear to see this would be a different walk than that out of Moissac.
The morning was a little chilly but the day developed into the perfect day for walking, about 60% cloud covering a bright blue sky and warm sun. We probably got to about 22°.
Also pleasing was that would have last week been muddy quagmires, seemed almost dried, with firmer ground underfoot.

There were a few ups and downs but nothing significant, the steepest climb was that into Flamarens.

The countryside is changing, mixed crops in much larger fields. I don’t know what’s growing, Liam said ‘heroin’. I think I saw corn, some splashes of canola but mostly still cereals. I didn’t see any huge barns like earlier on the way, nor were there any livestock in the fields – and no fences. So all of what’s growing here is not feed, but for processing down the line.
Auvillar is a beautiful, historic village, as were the smaller villages Bardigues, Saint Antoine, Flamarens, Miradoux and the destination for today – Castet-Arrouy.

As for the walk, a coffee break in St Antoine, a sandwich lunch in Flamarens broke the day and made the 22 kms less difficult and enjoyable.

Accommodation for the night is in the Gîte Communal and dinner at la Plancha.

Pierre the waiter, on learning that I’m Australian, was very excited and immediately started calling me ‘crocodil dundy’ or ‘crocodil’ for short. He then brought a huge meat cleaver from the kitchen and said ‘no, that’s a knife’!
