Last day on the Chemin Podiensis and Camino Frances!

Very odd to say ‘short day today’, but that’s what it has become.

Leaving at 6:50 am there were not many (any) people about until 6.5 kms in, at A Rúa.

Hydrangeas everywhere

Misty, drizzly morning again walking through tunnels of green eucalyptus plantations.

Met another Aussie from Sydney, Moira, and we both remarked on the eucalyptus scent and the reminders of home.

The closer Santiago became, the more people seemed to appear until there was a steady march into the Praza de Obradoiro, the square in front of the Cathedral.

Sarria walkers getting stamps. They need a minimum of 2 per day, but they are keen to fill their credentials

The throng thronging

Opting to make a beeline to the pilgrims’ office to get my compostela, because no doubt there would be a huge queue and a two hour wait, but a new registration system and far fewer people had me at the counter in 5 minutes.

With certificate in hand the Albergue, then the barber were the next ports of call after passing through the town square for the obligatory photos.

Met Pierre in a street in Santiago. Met him in Nasbinals and haven’t seen him since Lectoure, June 1st. He developed a leg problem – thought I’d never see him again.
