We’ve all dreaded it, and we’re mostly lucky to not have had the middle seat on a long-haul flight.
Well, I lucked out from Melbourne to Abu Dhabi. Worse still, one of my flying companions was a large Jamaican Mumma in the window seat on my left. For 14 hours I sat sideways trying to avoid a spongy elbow in my ribs. Forget trying to eat anything, it was impossible to lift my arm past that big fleshy mass. Rubbing salt into the wound, the old girl had no less than five comfort breaks – this was a logistical nightmare. I wished she’d sung, then this would have been over. (first world problem?)
Melbourne Airport – Flight xyz to CDG via Singapore.
