May 8. VE Day
May 8th – it’s Victory Day in Europe. Today commemorates the day after Germany surrendered in 1945.
Having bought new hiking poles at Decathlon at Westfield Lyon Part Dieu I found that one still had the security tag, after chatting with Kai for a while I headed to Decathlon to had it removed. Kai is walking his Chemins from Conques to Geneva (in ‘reverse’). I met Kai at Gite Decouverte in Le Puy.
A 4 kms round trip which I thought would be good to do to limber up, seeing as I start walking in earnest tomorrow.
Returning to Le Puy centre I found the VE Day ceremonies.
My new German friend Kai has troubled feelings about the day.
