Almost 10 kms before eating and coffee is a killer but when leaving a small town with no services – that’s life.
Carrion de la Condes didn’t come soon enough and it was great to find a bakery, and one bar/cafe open at 9:00 am.
Carrion’s old buildings are in good shape and the town square is a great place to relax with a coffee and tortilla.
With about 16 kms to today’s destination, Calzadilla – this has been the perfect break.

At Ledigos, I found myself in another private room, or at least I choose one. It was pretty comfortable and afforded me a peaceful nap before my shower.
At dinner I met Terry from Gosford. He’d just lost his wife after a long illness. He was exhausted and was doing a bit of a renewal, although physically he had collected a few injuries too. He seemed to be travelling in a cosy group and for a moment I was jealous of the camaraderie they shared.
Dinner was good, and the company enjoyable, but it’s the Camino: walk, eat sleep – repeat. Time for bed and recovery for tomorrow.
