A drizzly start, in the dark. With my head-torch next to useless because battery almost dead, it was tricky walking until the first light arrived after about 40 minutes.
The problem with these early starts is that nowhere is open for breakfast. Today, after almost 9 kms, it was Melide where the first open cafes appeared, along with the circus.
Stopping ‘mid-stage’ avoids the morning rush, but they are lurking in the next biggish town, in noisy groups all carrying 10ltr daypacks new active-wear nail polish make-up and jewellery.
Today is the last long day. Tomorrow I will arrive in Santiago after a ‘short’ 26ish km – I hope my shoes make the distance.
